A 30 year old woman was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital following an accident on River Drive on Monday 5 May at 2.15pm.
The woman who suffered Severe Head Injuries and a fractured leg after being hit by a car on River Drive, was assessed at the scene of the accident before being airlifted by the Staffordshire Air Ambulance to Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said;
“A pedestrian, a woman in her 30s had a severe head injury and a fractured left leg. She was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was flown to Selly Oak Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
“The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene for shock before being taken to the Robert Peel Hospital as a precaution.”
The accident which closed Riverdrive for much of the afternoon whilst Police investigated the incident caused traffic chaos on the towns roads with both carriageways being closed and traffic being diverted around the town and down the A5.
