Tougher Policing needed to curb abusive Yobs

Recent crime figures have lead to a call for tougher Policing of the Tamworth and the wider Staffordshire area, from Tamworths’ Conservative Parliamentary spokesman, Christopher Pincher.

Results for the Staffordshire region showed that 61,888 crimes were reported, but taking into account the huge under reporting of crimes, that figure could grow to over 500,000 incidents.

Mr Pincher said “This Labour Government has been soft on crime, and soft on the causes of crime. We live in a country where no one seems to say ‘no’ any more and nothing happens when a young person steps out of line.”

Tackling the issue of anti-social behaviour and abusive teens is something that effects everyone. How many of us have been subject to kids who believe they are untouchable? Kicking balls against cars without a care.  The difficult part though is getting the parents to accept responsibility.

Christopher adds “With so many reported and unreported cases of anti-social behaviour, Tamworth’s police need the power to ‘ground’ young persistent troublemakers – so we can prevent them from getting into worse trouble. We need to get more police on the beat, prosecute serious offenders and tackle the underlying causes of crime such as drug addiction, educational failure and family breakdown.”

It’s a worrying thought that many crimes go unreported.  Is this because we are to scared to get involved or because we don’t believe anything would get done due to bureaucracy and lenient court services?
